Turret Masterpiece

This beautiful old home was due for a facelift and its owners offered the task to the Team at OLD PORT ROOFING.

We were asked to replace the old painted galvanised iron on the roof with new Bluescope Colourbond, including the bullnose verandah and replace all the old iron on the turret with custom made cladding to make it all brand new.

All the old painted galvanised iron was removed from the roof and removed from site as soon as possible. Before laying in the new roof, the team installed insulation blanket, which assists with climate insulation with a rating of R1.3 as well as with noise insulation.

A new box gutter made of BlueScope Colourbond iron was custom made and installed to prevent any water ingress problems the customers previously had with the old deteriorated box gutter. Then the team proceeded to install new Bluescope Woodland Grey Colorbond .42BMT roof sheets. The tradesmen of Old Port Roofing are renowned for their heritage skills and installed Roll top ridge caps scribed into the profile of the colourbond sheets. These cappings together with valley gutters and square tail barge caps were all done in a higher gauge metal thickness of .55BMT.

The bullnose was carried out in Bluescope Colourbond .6BMT, and was custom curved to match the old existing bullnose frame. Acra lead hips were moulded to the shape of the bullnose to produce the finished polished look of this bullnose. Again, all the old verandah materials and rubbish was removed from site as soon as possible.

A scaffold was erected on the home for the guys to reach all the iron on the turret that needed replacing. Each section was custom made and folded in the Old Port Roofing warehouse and then cut accordingly to create the affect required on this turret. The Acra lead hips were then installed to finish the turret.

Many people have driven past this project and watched the progress of this home. We have received numerous requests to attend similar work. It is certainly an achievement that the team are very proud of and a showcase of the service and trade we can offer to the public. The owners of this home have also advised us of their appreciation for such a great result but also for the service provided by the guys for the duration of the project.
